APS AmeriStamp Expo
The APS AmeriStamp Expo stamp show was held in Reno, Nevada in the United States on March 3-5, 2017. I went to the show for three days and spent time at the stamp show and a little time in the casino.
I created and showed a new ten frame exhibit titled The W.H.O.'s 'The World United Against Malaria' Stamp Campaign . The exhibit has pages for each of the 150+ stamps and labels issued from 1961 till 1964 and a "conclusion" double wide page with stamps issued in the 21st century.
At the APS AmeriStamp Expo stamp show, I met with member James Sauer from the San Jose area. It was nice to chat with James about malaria stamps, mosquito postcards. I also gave James a quick tour of the 10 frame exhibit.
Philatelic Show 2017
Philatelic Show 2017 will be held May 5 to May 7, 2017 at the Boxborough Regency in Boxborough, Massachusetts (Interstate 495 & Route 111). Show hours will be 10AM to 6PM on Friday, May 5; 10AM to 5PM on Saturday, May 6; and 10AM to 3PM on Sunday, May 7. This show is 5 minutes from my house and I plan to spend a few days there.
I'll be showing two anti-malaria exhibits there: The W.H.O.'s 'The World United Against Malaria' Stamp Campaign and a new 8 frame exhibit titled "The United Nation’s 4¢ and 11¢ World United Against Malaria Set Of 1962 And Their First Days". I am finishing up the mounting of the pages and will have it scanned for the next Miasma which will be published September 1, 2017.
StampShow - APS National Summer Convention
Maybe more of us can meet up for this show. The show will be in Richmond, Virginia and run from August 3-6, 2017. If you plan to go and want to meet up, email me at malariastamps@yahoo.com.
Membership Update:
There are 106 members from 21 countries (1 new member since the last Miasma).
Always Looking for Articles: Please consider writing an article about some part of your malaria collection, or how you got started collecting malaria stamps, or about a doctor in the malaria field that can have supporting stamps with it, or new varieties that you have found, etc. All I need is the text and some images and I can put together the web page. A text file, MS Word file, and many other formats will work. If you have an exhibit that has interesting malaria items in it, please send scans of the exhibit pages and I can add them to the site.
