President's Message - Issue 25
(Published: May, 2008, Volume 8, Number 2, Issue #25) (Table Of Contents)(Author: Larry Fillion)
Auction Update:
The first auction appears successful.
Nine of the eleven items were sold; many at starting bids but a few went much higher.
The MPI made $8.30 on the sale by receiving 10% of the final sales.
There did not seem to be any issues with the bidding online so all is well.
The second auction will be in the September issue.
Membership Update: 7 new members since the last Miasma - there are now 33 members from 9 countries:
StampShow 2008: August 14th -> 17th in Hartford, Connecticut. More details on StampShow 2008. If people plan to go, contact me at malariastamps@yahoo.com and maybe we can meet and talk malaria stamps. I will also have a few malaria exhibits there.
Exhibits Update: There are two new exhibits and one updated exhibit on the site. Please see the table of contents for the links. If anyone is working on an exhibit or thinking about working on an exhibit, please contact me at malariastamps@yahoo.com and I may be able to answer some questions or may be able to connect you with someone at the American Association of Philatelic Exhibitors (AAPE). If you are looking for more information on exhibiting, the AAPE website is at http://www.aape.org. There is a lot of information up on the site along with over a hundred exhibits online to view and get ideas from on how to set one up.
Always Looking for Articles: Please consider writing an article about some part of your malaria collection, or how you got started collecting malaria stamps, or about a doctor in the malaria field that can have supporting stamps with it, or new varieties that you have found, etc. All I need is the text and some images and I can put together the web page. A text file, MS Word file, and many other formats will work. If you have an exhibit that has interesting malaria items in it, please send scans of the exhibit pages and I can add them to the site.
