Checklist - Ryukyu Islands First Day Cancellations
(Published: September, 2007, Volume 7, Number 2, Issue #23) (Table Of Contents)(Author: Larry Fillion)
In 1962, Ryukyu Islands issued 2 stamps for the "World United Against Malaria" campaign.
These were assigned Scott catalog numbers 95 and 96. Below are images of the two stamps.
Below is an example of a common FDC Cachet for this set of stamps. There are two cancellations on the FDC. The first is a small date cancel from Naha and the second is a large pictorial cancellation with one of the "World United Against Malaria" symbols on it.
To date, there are the 3 known sets of cancellations from three different cities used on FDCs: Naha, Koza, and YaeYama.
