Bayer Resochin and Aspirin Exhibition
(Published: November, 2009, Volume 9, Number 3, Issue #29) (Table Of Contents)(Author: Larry Fillion)
On the Bayer website, there is a PDF (1.4 MB) online "The Inventor Company" (This has been copied locally to the MPI site).
Page 4 has a small blurb "Dr. Hans Andersag discovers an agent against the fatal tropical disease: Resochin©. It is still regarded
as on the most important drugs for malaria prevention today". Also on the Bayer site is a page
http://www.scienceforabetterlife.bayer.com/en/Preventing-Malaria.aspx
describing in more detail Bayer's work combating malaria.
Resochin (or Chloroquine) celebrated its 75 anniversary in June of 2009. Bayer Vital, the German group of Bayer Healthcare, planned some activities during the last week in June of 2009. Part of this program upon other events was the exhibition of a small stamp collection related to Resochin and Malaria. I was contacted in December of 2008 and was asked if I could send a malaria 'exhibit' to Germany. I looked through my exhibits and what made the most sense to me was to send 48 pages of the malaria White Ace pages with all of the stamps mounted in nice hingless mounts. I was working with two people: Helmut Fischbach and Dr. Manfred Mengel. There were other stamp exhibits at the exhibition from the U.K., France, and Germany.
Below are some pictures from the exhibition.
